In an effort to teach the teens the value of waiting and true love, Family Is a Gift in partnership with Mary the Queen Parish, Singles for Christ and Youth for Christ conducted “A Love Like This,” an acoustic journey about what love really is, last November 17, 2018.
Attendees got to enjoy singing along to love songs while hearing testimonies of how people found love and are in the journey of finding true love with patience and prayers. Ysrael Dumasig shared about how a heart break from a long-time girlfriend brought him to discover his passion for music and how he uses this new-found passion to serve the Lord more. Pearl Barretto, another sharer, talked about how she found love through serving the Lord after her heart was broken by her father’s passing. She shared about how her father was her standard of a great man and how she found a man that fit that standard after a mission abroad. Darrice Manalo, a YFC full-time pastoral worker shared about how choosing mission over a relationship was the best decision she has made thus far. Newly married couple, Tine and Bani Burgos, talked about how waiting and preparing were important aspects of their relationship. They shared how important it was to make sure that each of them was prepared for a relationship that will eventually lead to marriage. Facilitator Yael Banasig ended the night with his own reflections about the stories shared. He reminded the teens that love is meant to be shared and that true love is worth the wait.
